Communications and Campaigns Coordinator
Position: Communications and Campaigns Coordinator
Location: Johannesburg or Nairobi Hub
Duration: up to 31 January 2027
Closing date: 4 August 2025 (16.00 GMT)
The Role:
Are you a passionate communicator with a flair for storytelling and driving campaign engagement? Do you have the technical skills needed to deliver creative assets for digital channels? ActionAid is calling for a bold, imaginative thinker who wants to drive powerful campaigns that inspire millions to stand up for gender equality, climate justice, and economic rights.
Working at the global level as our new Communications and Campaigns Coordinator, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping compelling narratives, amplifying grassroots voices, and creating high-impact content that cuts through the noise. Working closely with a global network of campaigners, storytellers, and changemakers, you’ll lead creative strategies that not only raise awareness—but move people to action.
Please see further information in the job description.
Who we're looking for:
We’re looking for a dynamic, creative, and organised communicator who’s ready to turn bold ideas into action. You understand how to shape compelling content to reach different audiences and have an instinct for storytelling that inspires people to act, often collaborating with social movements to bring a campaign to life.
We would like to hear from you if you have experience working in communications for a high-profile nonprofit organisation and are confident juggling multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. It’s vital you can expertly translate complex issues into clear, engaging messages, and have the technical editing skills needed to create digital content. As a person, you are collaborative and committed to building inclusive campaigns rooted in solidarity and movement-building.
At ActionAid we seek to challenge power and drive systemic change globally and this role will play a pivotal role in driving forward our Fund Our Future campaign targeting banks investing in climate wrecking activities such as agribusiness and fossil fuels.
If you’re ready to use your skills to help shift narratives, mobilise communities, and support the fight for a more just and equitable world—we want to hear from you.
You should also have strong commitment to ActionAid’s values and ethos, including ActionAid’s feminist leadership principles.
What we offer:
ActionAid is committed to providing a welcoming, supportive workplace where we recognise a job well done, encourage close collaboration and sharing power, and where safeguarding standards and feminist leadership are exemplified everywhere. At ActionAid, you can look forward to a fair compensation package and a flexible working environment, including
- A workplace that embraces intersectional feminist principles
- Generous maternity, paternity and adoption pay
